What do you need to use pppoe and ubuntu mini:

the mirror's ip that you want to use for downloading.

first:
kernel-image-2.6.35-22-generic-pae-di_2.6.35-22.33_i386.udeb
nic-shared-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-di_2.6.35-22.33_i386.udeb
ppp-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-di_2.6.35-22.33_i386.udeb
ppp-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-pae-di_2.6.35-22.33_i386.udeb
serial-modules-2.6.35-22-generic-pae-di_2.6.35-22.33_i386.udeb
user-mode-linux_2.6.35-1um-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

then use commands
    depmod -a
    modprobe pppoe

second:
gcc-4.4-base_4.4.3-3ubuntu3_i386.deb
libc6_2.11.1-0ubuntu4_i386.deb
libc6-udeb_2.11.1-0ubuntu4_i386.udeb
libc-bin_2.11.1-0ubuntu4_i386.deb
libgcc1_4.4.3-3ubuntu3_i386.deb
libpopt0_1.15-1_i386.deb
libstdc++6_4.4.3-3ubuntu3_i386.deb
net-tools_1.60-23ubuntu2_i386.deb
ppp_2.4.5~git20081126t100229-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
pppoe_3.8-3ubuntu1_i386.deb
pptpd_1.3.4-5ubuntu2_i386.deb
pptp-linux_1.7.2-4_i386.deb

and third:
dhcp3-client_3.1.3-2ubuntu2_i386.deb
dhcp3-client-udeb_3.1.3-2ubuntu2_i386.udeb
sl-modem-daemon_2.9.11~20080817-3ubuntu4_i386.deb

final:
ppp-udeb_2.4.5-5ubuntu1_i386.udeb

now edit:
/etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider adding at the end
user "the name you use to connect"
    plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0
and save.

/etc/network/interfaces
change all the provider --> dsl-provider
and at the end auto eth0
            iface eth0 init manual
and save.
Now you'll face a problem: there's a connection that your system started before you changed the files.
stop it.
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig ppp0 down
- if there is one
ifconfig eth0 up
and then
pon dsl-provider
usually it don't work at first attempt so retry to put "down" and "up" the eth0 and the command "pon". with a time span of 1 or 2 minutes from an attempt to the other.
check the connection by using "ping". sometime the eth0 goes down after the installation of the package nr 1 so give an "ifconfig" for safety

1- to install packeges you must use "udpkg -i name-package" and remember to use packages that are compatible with the version kernel that you want to install.
2- when you install ppp-udeb the system can look like it is frozen so go in the second tty (alt+f2) use "ps aux" (or ps) look for ppp and kill it (kill-9 numer-process)
3- type exit and return to the gui .and choose the mirror.
4- i don't know why but it have problem when running "wget" so use the manual insert when you choose the mirror and change (ex. port.ubuntu.com) with the ip (ex.91.189.92.175), remember that the system must point to /dists/name-dist/Release so at the second question add or delete the path between "/port.../" and "/dists.../Release", in my last experiance i have deleted completely the second question, other time i have added the path "/ubuntu"
